In a world that is dominated by smart phones, tablets, laptops, computers, television, etc. With special traffic lights for smartphone users…where are we leading ourselves, and our children to?

Dutch Cargo Bike is on a mission… get outside, spend time together, make an effort to write your family story together! And it doesn’t matter how you do this…Just get into a habit together with family and friends to make a habit of using the time you are together..together!

The impact of social media as a way to communicate does not just influence the younger generation who do not know of a world without the internet.

The Social and Psychological Impact of Online Social Networking APS National Psychology Week Survey 2010 – Mathews and Cameron. Over 1800 Australians took part in this survey and (51%)  reported accessing sites several times a day and feeling a need to log on at times throughout the day. Participants also believed that they wasted time on these sites.  Most –  70% spent less than two hours a day on social media activities.

So every Sunday in May find the flight button on your phone;

And enjoy the day! Some ideas;

  • Do you have a ‘real’ camera laying around, unused as you have a phone now? Dust it off!
  • Make notes, use your phone, or get a really nice notebook, a beautiful pen, markers, pencils and get creative
  • Get a map from your area and make a playground hunt
  • Look for mini-beast in your garden, balcony or local park, and investigate where they live
  • Take paper and paint and draw nature
  • Fly a kite
  • Play board games
  • and cycle, cycle, cycle! Use your bike, cargo bike, kids bikes, scooters and skateboards to go on an adventure!

Now the tricky part… to get people to understand how it is freeing and fun to be offline, we need to go online!

Post your pictures and stories online during the week after your offline Sunday.

Use #offlinesunday on facebook and instagram, post it to our facebook page and spread the word!

Inspire, get inspired, create your together-story!
